It's been a while since I last wrote, and I'm surprised to find it has now been four terms since I took over as Chair of Governors.
2015 started with the utmost tragedy, and was certainly not without further challenges along the way. An extraordinary year in the true sense of the word.
But for the children, this was mostly just another happy year of learning, fun and growing up, and I have some great memories. Recently Christmas has been a special time, from the buzzing atmosphere of the Christmas Fair and Christmas Productions to the children spontaneously singing "We Wish You A Merry Christmas" together at their Christmas lunch; and the final celebration of Christmas at St Andrew's Church. Even from tragedy we saw how incredibly strong the school community is, of which I am very proud.
I also think we can all look forward to 2016; we have an energetic new Deputy Headteacher, Adam Gough, starting in January and a really sound School Development Plan that will help St Andrews deliver an even better education for all the children. The Governing Body has two keen new members in Georgina Williams and Maryann Parkinson (thank you!), and we will do all we can to fulfil the 'critical friend' role.
I'd like to sincerely thank Mrs Prelogauskas and all of the staff for their dedication, resilience and team spirit this year - more than anything this is what makes me confident for the future of St Andrews. I'd also like to thank the many governors who have gone above and beyond their volunteer roles, and finally but not least a huge thank you to you for your continued support.
A very Happy New Year to you all.
