Hedgehog Class Summer Newsletter 2018Dear Parents/Carers,
Welcome to the summer term in Hedgehog Class!
I hope you had a fantastic Easter break and that you didn't eat too much chocolate!! It is a very exciting term for us with welcoming our new head, Mrs Simpson and a trip to the beach we have planned for this half term. You will receive a letter shortly with the details.
Our topic for the following term is 'On Our Doorstep' and KS1 will specifically be looking at the Jurassic coast and Dinosaurs. The children have already shared their enthusiasm for this topic and I'm sure that you will be hearing about our activities over the next term. Please see the topic web (see right) to follow what we will be learning about across all subjects this half term.
We will still be doing PE on a Tuesday and Thursday this term. Please ensure that your child's kit is named. Please also check all jumpers and cardigans are named as I have a large 'lost items' basket in the classroom which is almost full of unnamed items.
Home learning will be continued to be handed out on a Thursday and collected the following Tuesday. Please ensure that year 2 children are continuing to practice their spellings and bring me any evidence of doing so!
Any support for readers is warmly welcome from 8.45 am to 9.30 am. Along with this, please ensure your child reads with you as often as possible. Children who read regularly make more progress in reading, spelling, writing, vocabulary acquisition and comprehension skills. Myself and Mrs Blakey do check reading records regularly so please ensure you note down any time your child reads for our records.
If you need to get in touch, you can catch either me before/after school or email the office: firstname.lastname@example.org
